[OTA] princess needs a camera

i know there’re some newbies here these few days, so you may not know what OTA stands for. it stands for Off-Topic-Alert, so whenever you see any posts here with OTA in the title, consider yourself forewarned that the entry probably ain’t even remotely related to leader… it’s mostly the princess’ self-indulgent whining or rambling.

feel free to skip, and nope, you won’t be hurting my feelings whatsoever, hehe!

there’s a little personal something that i wanna share with you gals here, but i feel a teeny weeny bit shy about it, hee! but shy or otherwise, i’m also feeling way too happy about it to keep it under wraps. yea, my eagerness to shy definitely overwhelms my state of feeling shy, haha!

now those of you who were bored enough to read the write-up on ABOUT BB might remember that i had wanted to be a writer when i was little. in fact, i still wanna be. guess it should be obvious from the way i ‘force’ you gals to read soooooo… much of my babbling as the opening for practically all my blog entries.  so with this context, can you imagine my delight when i was given the opportunity to do a write-up for PERSONA HK for OMGKPOP?

anyway, the (oospies, a wee bit long) article is out. YAY, IT’S OUT, IT’S OUT, IT’S OUT!!

it’s soooooo… bloody exciting to see your own article on a korean entertainment news portal! it looks almost proper and official, if you know what i mean! i was so excited the entire day. in fact, the moment it was out, i was unable to contain my excitement and went to tell a few peeps to go check it out.



it was such a thrill to see your own name right up there as though you’re a real writer. hehe, yea, yea, i know, i know… cheap thrill… but it’s been a childhood dream of mine to become a writer whom people actually like to read from, so humour me for abit, k? (*bb: hee, for awhile there, i even contemplated using a new web nic, princess bb or something…!)

but but but…. there’s a sad story behind this article.

i lost my camera in hong kong the night before the concert. did i hear someone say, ‘AGAIN?!’

yup, not the first time i lost it. i think i’ve lost three cameras in the past four years, oopsies! the first time was a casio and i had lost it during my seoul trip back in feb 2005. it had slipped out of my parka pocket when i was getting out of a cab. the second time was also a casio (which was the replacement i’d bought in seoul), and i had left it in the cab when i was getting home from my ex-company’s annual dinnee, and that was in sep 2007. and this third one that i’d lost last friday was a canon and i had lost it… errr… i don’t even know where i’d lost it.

sighs… seems like i’ve a pattern of losing cameras every two-odd years…

so… i didn’t have the use of a camera during the concert. actually, i kindda forgot that i was supposed to be taking pics and clips of the concert for the article, so i didn’t even think about buying a replacement then, or borrowing from fellow fans to snap a few ‘strategic’ pics.

it was much later that i’d remembered i needed photos for the article. thank goodness emz came to my rescue, so all the concert pics you saw in the article were hers. thanks, emz!


okie, now moving on to my ‘problem’ at hand. the princess needs a camera!

i was contemplating getting getting the panasonic lumix after reading that XIAXUE’S HAPPY WITH HERS. a good pal of mine also got one, and he’s pretty happy with it. i’ve seen the pics he’s taken with the cam, and the pics looked fab.


but but but… i’ve also been hearing rave reviews about the canon S90 that’s just launched into the market. in fact, this one’s canon’s answer to the wildly successful panasonic lumix DMX-LX3! since the S90 is a newer machine, and canon does have a good reputation of making good cameras, i decided to check it out abit…

here’s how the canon S90 looks…

nice? not bad, ya?

nope, not really.

the autumn leaves and all that jazz kindda framed the cam and made it look sexier than it is. the actual cam body is actually extremely old-school. it looks like a cam, period.

it’s black, it’s boring, it’s no-frills…. definitely no bells-and-whistles about this one.

but strangely, the princess actually likes how plainly simple and starkly black it is. it’s like it’s all confident in its glorious features and great functionality and performance delivery that it doesn’t need any shiny chrome coating or bling-bling straps whatsoever. i like how ‘proud and confident’ the cam is. it seems to know what its role is, to take pics, and it looks like it knows what it’s doing.

okie, okie, the princess is a sane person, and she ain’t hallucinating that the cam is a living thing. haiyo, you gals really have to stop taking things so seriously, and you have to stop taking me so literally…!!

my concern is this… even though the princess has been blogging since july 2005, she is still kindda useless and clueless when it comes to taking pics and clips. so if the cam knows what it’s supposed to do, and if the cam can make up for the owner’s lack of skills and aesthetic sense when it comes to picture composition, the better!
