well, first thing first, wishing an early Merry Christmas, good health and good tidings to all of you and your family. to bb and miyo (who will be spending christmas in Japan!), thanks for these wonderful months although we only knew each other like a 4-5 mths? thanks, bb, for always sharing, be it on leader or on a personal basis. to miyo, enjoy your japan trip, take lots of photos and think of us both ok? keke….
as u all knew, the three of us attended Persona Hong Kong. so just wanna share what i have written for my trip account and of cos the photos of leader… hahaha!
well, good things are worth the wait, isnt it? thats what i think. haha. of the 580 plus photos taken for my Hong Kong trip, close to 50% were taken on the concert day itself. from the pre-concert to the actual concert and post-concert. i would try putting up more photos, especially since this concert, unlike the previous two, allowed phototaking. much to the delights of all the fans, im sure.
considering this is my third time attending SS501′s Persona Concert, i still enjoy myself at each and every of their concerts. even after i have attended their Persona concerts in Seoul and Taipei. although you might say experiencing it once is enough but there are differences in each of their concerts, in their song set list, esp for JungMin’s solo where he would perform a song from that country. like he performed 甜蜜蜜 in Taipei, 朋友 in Shanghai and 追 in cantonese for Hong Kong. with much sincerity everytime he performed. much to the delight of the fans. each experience, feeling, atmosphere, the company to the concert was definitely different. and im glad i have the right company to go with each time and enjoyed myself thoroughly in each concert and trip.
this time round in Hong Kong, even YoungSaeng’s solo segment was different from his previous Persona concerts. being near to christmas, the concert atmosphere was one filled with christmas feel and with snow effect too!
im not exactly a die-hard fan or overdoing into idol-chasing. like what people ard me would think or say. just judging by the trips i made to see the guys at the concerts. infact, initially i was quite upset by a friend who commented that i overdid this. spending money unnecessarily. being my financial advisor and a fren, i know he was worried. but for me, im thinking – how long can this last? its just this period where the Persona Asia Tour is on. lts sorta like once a lifetime thingy. which i feel i may not get the same opportunity, the same group of people, the time etc. life itself is so full of uncertainty and changes. i do not want to regret not doing the things i want to in my life and regreting much in the later part. of cos, to be able to do the things i want involves much more, especially financial. and im pretty much aware of that and will do things that are pretty much in my control.
being me, i dun really wanna explain much. since the Persona concerts in Seoul, which was my first overseas trip to see a concert, the trips to Taipei and Hong Kong have became more than just the guys and Persona concerts. it is being able to go on holidays with a good company of friends whom i have known since i knew the guys. i wouldnt say we are best of friends and companions yet but im sure in time to come, we would. at least we have something in common we all love, something to share and talk about. the ST★R.
♥ PRE CONCERT
12.12.2009. the day SS501 held their Persona Concert in Hong Kong. the venue? AsiaWorld Expo. reporter emz on site. keke.
merchandise were up for sale at ard 4. however queues started way before that. oh gosh, note how the word ‘official’ was being mis-spelt.
the various hk fanclubs’ posters and banners. just a couple of these shots took a considerable amount of time. cos fans were taking with them. imagine i had to wait till the coast is cleared to take them.

fans were allowed into the concert area at 1930hrs and the concert started promptly at 2000hrs. no security checks, and best of all, no queue! management of the crowd was so so much better than the situation in taipei. no frustration or unhappiness. just purely anticipation and excitement to see the guys and for the commencement of the concert. which i think was a pretty good start to the rest of the evening.
as i mentioned in my earlier post, our area A3 was so roomy. not packed + no squeezing = happy fans. hahah! i could jump, hop and move ard so comfortably!

i was again immersed in the excitement of being in SS501′s concert. what i felt then was what i had felt back in Persona Seoul in Aug 09. the familiar green sea of lightsticks, the background music, the mtvs, the usual fans’ screaming whenever the guys’ mtv was shown.
♥ HIGHLIGHT OF THE DAY – PERSONA CONCERT

Persona Hong Kong started with a big bang and pyrotechnics along with the fans’ highly energetic waving of the lightsticks and screaming. watch the opening of the concert.
5 gorgeous hunks descended from above the stage. just like the one in Seoul. with the flaming background and in their military-like costumes, SS501 further warmed up the already much-heated up atmosphere in AsiaWorld-Expo, Hong Kong with the opening song, Deja Vu. thanks to ting0812.
Unlock and Warning were up next. thanks to devildenise whose shot was so near. in between the guys did their self-introduction of their names in cantonese. they would always attempt to learn the basic greetings of the country they would perform in, making themselves more approachable and appealing to the fans. precisely thats why i think SS501 have earned themselves a large fan base, both in korea and overseas.

closer look of HyunJoong. he is just so so … beyond description of words
in their fuschia and black colored costume, they danced to the next set of songs – 4chance and A Song Calling For You. pretty much similar to previous concerts. fans were singing in unison and chanting along as these 2 songs were rather popular. and with the usual intimate movements between the guys and the female dancers. yah, upon listening for the third time, i think the fans were protesting. hahha.

HyungJoon’s solo HeyG and KyuJong’s 2 songs – Never let you go and Wuss Up were similar to previous concerts. both receiving much applause and screaming from the fans.

after baby’s and KyuJong’s solo performances, the 5 guys came together for Never Again and Because I’m stupid. many a times during the concert, i was very much into singing along with the songs and almost dancing. other times? im happily taking photos. haha.

JungMin never fail to amaze me with his solo segment. always. He sang his Solo, If You Cannot and also with his multi-linguistic ability, he chose to perform 追, Chase by the late singer-actor Leslie Cheung for the movie He’s a Woman, She’s a Man (金枝玉葉)(cantonese) for Persona Hong Kong. which received overwhelming responses from the fans. like he always did during his segments in previous concerts. i think his rendition of the song was nice. and i wondered how he learnt the song, not to mention memorizing the lyrics, within a short time. amazing.

U R Man and Fighter up next. similar to previous concerts. cant helping dancing and enjoying the beats and grooves of U R Man. my fav song before Love Like This. absolutely groovy. i like the dance as well.
unexpectedly, to my surprise, YoungSaeng performed something very different from his past Persona. watch his solo performance of You Are My Heaven (rap version with HyungJoon) and Find (rock version of an old song of SS501) here. credits to rmdkdl. the songs were rather refreshing for a change. he shd be praised for daring a different image, that of a bad boy, rocker kind.

Finally, the much awaited leader’s Solo, Please be good to me. credits to cowchristy. even after watching it for so many times, im still enjoying it. so does many many of the fans there as well. keke.
the exciting moment came when leader just ripped of his shirt, showing his toned abs, to the deafening screams of the whole crowd. almost went deaf each time leader did it. Managed to take one photo of HyunJoong in his solo segment. the rest of the time? i was 100% focussed on him.

the next group segment was on the songs from the Rebirth Mini Album. and i like all the songs being performed. from Crazy 4 U (although this was not in the album, im still loving it), Only One Day, Green Pea (a song written by SS501 for the fans) to Love Like This which was a major hit and my fav no.1 song as well. credits to cowchristy, devildenise for the vidz.

Encore
Before i knew it, the concert was almost over. the fans asked for encore, in Persona Hong Kong, in a rather different way. the fans sang “we wish you a Merry Chrismas” before the guys appeared again in santa claus outfit over their Persona Hong Kong tee-shirt. (i also wan that tee!) see the cute graphics of the guys as santa claus on screen.
Coward and Bye Bye were the encore songs. there was snow effect too. all in the lovely spirit of christmas. i like christmas! and it was the same water splashing and fans using water guns on the guys again. being in the standing area, i had water being splashed on me too! my only concern was my camera cos it had many many of the photos of the concerts as well as my trip. hahah.

♥ POST CONCERT

as i kept mentioning, while i kept anticipating their concert to come as fast as possible, at the end of the concert, i would wish the concert would never end! haha. it was over in just 2+ hrs. be it the Persona concerts in Seoul, Taipei or Hong Kong, the time spent watching the concert was like the fastest time of my life. how i wished it would never stop.

watched it already? if you’d read the fan account that i’d translated earlier, you’d notice that the fan said the boys wore gray suits that they wore during the LLT promo period. but watching the clip and also looking at the pic, i think the boys were wearing brand new suits. what do you think?

JAPAN 2nd CHRISTMAS SHOW
One of my friend went to the party, and this is her story:
The show was really good. Fans were so excited. It’s hard to hear the boy sometime because fans were too loud. They sang live very good. There was some mistake by YS and JM here and there, but just a minor thing, and fans were very supportive. They styled their hair totally different from Persona. HJL looked extremely young with his hair down.
SS501′s special Christmas service: Light up candles for the fans. Each of them have a different colour candle.
Leader Hyun Joong caused chaos to almost every table during the proccess. All fans tried to touched and pulled him. A child was pushed and fell to the floor. Hyun Joong picked the child up and brought the kid back stage. Two bodyguards were with him to keep the fans down.
Fans loved to talk to JungMin, since he speaked Japanese fluently and provided great fan services; very charming and funny. He had lots of makeup on. He has the most makeup on among all the members. Leader has very little make up. Next one is baby.
Kuy was very charming, and gentle, very manly. He did not talk much, just smillng. YoungSaeng too.
The food wasn’t that good, but nobody cared, since all five men were too gorgeous, and dashing. Fans prepared a lot of gifts for each of the boys.
All the performance were carried out nicely. The sound was great, since the place was not too big, so you can hear their voice as natural as they sounded. So far, there was no complaint, everybody were very happy with the party.
Strictly no camera, or camrecorder allowed in the party. There will be video from the official for this party. The above pictures were taken in secret by a fan.
you know what? the princess is beginning to think that leader had carried a child and not a full grown woman as i’d thought after reading YEN’s POST.
okie, no tantrums, no sulking or pouting required for the time being. and oh, no fainting required for the time being too.

The Christmas Dinner started with playing of the Japan concert video. The women were discussing about leader’s woman as they ate their dinner. The event started after dinner. They’d opened with Love Like This, and the boys woreTHE GRAY OUTFITS that they had worn when promoting LLT. Leader’s really cute.
After performing LLT came their usual style of greeting ╮(╯_╰)╭ YS didn’t introduce himself as the prince… (okie, okie, you’re Bad Boy now…)
After that was Haruman (Only One Day).
Then it was Q&A session, the type whereby the boys would raise O (yes) or X (no) as answers. Answers are in this order: (1)Leader, (2)YS, (3)Kyu, (4)Mal, (5)Baby
Q1: What if your girlfriend dresses casually or sloppily for your Christmas date?

Baby: Coz she’s my girlfriend, so everything can be forgiven~
Mal: Aiya~ That’s really matured~
Leader: No, no… I chose wrongly…(seems like he didn’t understand the question correctly–+)
Q2: What about wearing couple outfits and stuff?

Leader: Absolutely not. But if it’s rings or accessories, OK!

Leader: B&B guesthouse, can prepare meals and eat together, and can go fishing. If (her?) parents are OK with it, we can stay there for two to three days before sending her home. This yeararh… it’s regretful that it’s not possible… Maybe sometime in the future.
YS: Ski resort. Want to have snowball fight with her.
Mal: en, en… Hide a stone or something in the snowball… haha…
Kyu: Jeon-ju (*bb: just in case you didn’t know, kyu’s from there…)
Baby: Go for a gathering with my family, like go fishing and stuff.
After the Q&A session, the boys sang Always and Forever, and then they played the Phone Call Connection game. Each of the five boys had a cellphone in their hands, and they announced the numbers of the five handsets. The moment the emcee said ‘GO!‘, the fans started to dial these five numbers to see which fan could successfully get through to the cellphones that the boys were holding on-stage.
The lucky fans who could get through could go on-stage for her prize – an alarm clock with recording function! The member whose number the fan got connected with would record on-the-spot whatever message the fan wanted to hear!!!
Leader: Mika~ ~! Wakeup~ ~! Quickly get up~ ~! Aishiteru(a recording with a rock feel- – and, he didn’t seem to get the recording right, and had to do it a few times) (*bb: Aishiteru = i’m in love with you)
Kyu: Quickly, get up orh~ ~ We’re going to Disneyland together~
YS: I’m coming over to see you now~ Quickly get out of bed orh~
After that, they sang Hoshizora.
Then they changed into an all-white tuxedo, and started to light the candles table by table, and also to deliver their greetings. There were 100 ordinary tables, and five VIP tables. Each table had 10 people. For the VIP tables, all five of them went together; as for the ordinary table, only one member was appointed to each table.
There’s a lady who had brought along her kid- -+, the kid fell, and Leader carried the kid up.
Leader was the first to finish lighting his candles and return to the stage. Then it was YS, Kyu, Mal and Baby. Leader was really speedy; Mal and Baby were very polite and friendly.
Next, the five of them sang Green Peas in Japanese! The lyrics were shown on the big screen, and everyone sang along. Then it was lucky draw and giving away of the prizes, and then more chatting.
Lastly, they sang Snow Prince and Coward. The end.
The boys went back home this morning, and over a hundred fans were at the airport to send them off. I only saw four of them, didn’t see YS. Leader will be back in Japan next week, it’s for the recording of a FOOD PROGRAM FOR FUJI TV. Looks like Leader will spend Christmas in Japan, he said if there’s time, he’d go to Hakone for onsen .

Kim Hyun Joong Wishes to Share Artistes & Songs He Likes
Kim Hyun Joong chose Remembrance by Turbo as a classic by Korean idols, and he added that it is a pity that students these days do not even know who Turbo is.
In the segment ‘Best Idol Classics As Chosen by SS501′ of Golden Fishery aired on the 16th, Kim Hyun Joong chose Remembrance by Turbo as the third, Comeback by Sechskies (or 6kies) as the second, and To My Mother by G.O.D as the first.
In particular, Kim Hyun Joong mentioned that “The young people don’t even know H.O.T and Turbo,” and explained that he would like to share with everyone the songs of artistes whom he likes.
hands up, those of you who have never heard of these artistes or songs that leader was talking about?!
hehe, my hand was the first to shoot up! i’ve only heard of G.O.D (haiyo, i’m referring to the mortal and earthly ones lah…) and never heard any of the three songs he’s mentioned. then again, i hardly listen to kpop, yea, the use of present tense was deliberate since i still can’t say i do now, hehe!
okie, lesson time! i’ll start with the first, then second, followed by the third place, k?
SECHKIES or 6kies have six members. this all-boy group made their debut back in 1997. one unusual thing about sechkies is that the group was divided into two sets of three members, the Black Kies and the White Kies. The Black Kies mostly did the rapping and the White Kies would do the vocals. coincidentally, the Black Kies were the three older members of the band, while White Kies were the younger members. and oh, understand that sechkies was sorta H.O.T‘s biggest rival back in the late 1990s.

moving on to G.O.D. now this one i’ve heard of, but never heard, if you know what i mean… they’re supposed to be pretty big, like maybe as big as shinhwa…? don’t kill me if that’s not accurate, ya? i’ve already said i don’t know much about korean pop music, but i do know that together with shinhwa, G.O.D is included in the top 10 groups of recent pop history.
they have lots of great hits apparently, but the one that leader has chosen is a very meaningful one. To My Mother has a great MV too! i’ve found one with english subs, enjoy…

moving on to the third song, Remembrance 회상 by TURBO. now this song is translated into 回想 in chinese. as for english, i’ve found different versions, some have referred to the song as Reminiscence, some as Remembrance or Recollection. anyway, they all mean roughly the same thing, i.e. thinking back or recalling, you know what i mean, ya?
now this one’s a surprise to me. those of you who watch korean variety shows would have seen KIM JONG KOOK on many of them, and if you’re an x-man fan, then there’s no way you’ve not heard about the ‘peculiar vibes’ from yoon eun hye and this guy. in fact, i’ve given you the link to THEIR SO-CALLED SCANDAL when i was blogging about the BASIC HOUSE ENDORSEMENT DEAL.
and if you don’t watch x-men and stuff, but find him awfully familiar, that’s probably because you had seen him appear in FAMILY OUTING together with leader. yea, he’s the one with the bodybuilder physique.

anyway, shan’t say much, but seems like there could be more surprises heading our way. good news? bad news? well, it’s all a matter of perspective, i guess. my perspective? hmmm… don’t think it’s good news if it does materialise. anyway, whatever will come will come.

DSP president and the rest of the boys had already cleared immigration and were all walking out, when leader just strolled out nonchalantly with a carrier… then it suddenly dawned on him that he’s alone, and that the rest were all ahead of him, and he suddenly broke into a run, seemingly to catch up with them.
the black ball-thingy on his beanie was bopping up and down as he was hurrying along, sooooo… adorably cute!

hee, just as we go watch his concert, leader too goes and watches other performers’ concerts! after flying back to seoul from japan today, he’d gone for SNSD concert held at korean time 4pm at the olympic park. yup, the same place where he and his four other members had their first PERSONA concert back in august this year.
Kim Hyun Joong Watched SNSD Concert with Good Friends
U-Know Yun Ho and Max Chang Min of boy band DBSK and Kim Hyun Joong and Heo Young Saeng of SS501 drew attention when the four of them showed up at SNSD’s concert.
The four of them appeared at Olympic Park at Songpa-gu, Seoul to watch SNSD’s concert.
It is a known fact in the entertainment circuit that U-Know Yun Ho, Max Chang Min, Kim Hyun Joong and Heo Young Saeng are not at all bothered by any competitive rivalry despite belonging to different singing groups and are extremely close friends. They attracted much attention as they had attended the concert despite the the cold weather.
this is actually SNSD’s first asia concert since their debut some two years and five months ago. the first leg, as with most concerts, kicked off in homeground first. their first performance was actually yesterday, and today’s their second show.

incidentally, SS501 fans would probably know that young saeng, in particular, seems to have a liking for this girl group, having done their GEE dance at various occasions. here are some of the clips, enjoy…
first up, this one’s from their ROMANTIC SKY EVENTat jeju with the japanese fans in may.
somehow hallyu events in japan are nearly-always more stringently watched and monitored when it comes to fancam and pics and stuff like that. so comparatively, there’re always fewer clips and pics out from there. i suppose there may be fan accounts and sharing, but not many translation.
i understand that IP laws are more widely and strictly enforced, as evidenced by the ‘less colourful’ blogs in japan. i can still remember at the beginning of the whole hallyu era, when hallyu fans in japan were first exposed to korean fansites and fanblogs, it was abit of a culture shock to them. coz most japanese sites are devoid of pics and clips during that time, it seems. to see the korean and even overseas fans freely putting up pics and clips was something of an eye-opener to them at that time.
but the japanese people are smart people, and they pick up in no time. these days, many hallyu fans keep personal blogs, and some of them are so good that they actually have their own inner circles and access to the more ‘authoritative’ fanblogs are by subscription or invitation only! in fact, i even know of japanese fans who have daily cellphone updates pushed out to their ‘subscribers’!
anyway, i was just gonna share abit about the boys’ second xmas show in japan yesterday.
‘second’, coz they had held a xmas show last year too, so this year was the second time they’re doing something like that. and there were two shows yesterday, one for lunch and one for dinner. miyo has done the english translation of the event HERE.
and oh, special SS501 merchandise was also put up for sale at the venue yesterday, on top of those fans who had successfully bidded for the special xmas gift box. again, miyo has translated the details of the xmas goodies available for sale HERE.
now like i was saying, i haven’t seen many pics or clips from yesterday’s events. but i do know YEN has a friend kowji13 who attended the dinner show and was updating on HER TWITTER ACCOUNT. she also shared some pics, but not of the boys though. she said they’re not allowed to take pics inside the venue.
i didn’t ask kowji13 for her permission to share the pics, but i suppose it should be alright, since her tweets and pics are currently on public space anyway, so anyone could have seen them. i’ve also done the necessary to ink her twitter account on the collage. but yen (i know you pop by sometimes), if she minds, do let me know, i can remove the pic.
kowji13 also tweeted some interesting tidbits that happened during the dinner show. apparently, one of the highlights of the shows was a lucky draw to have the boys make calls to one fan present at the event. if the call got connected, and the fan answered, the fan would have won herself a chance to go on-stage to talk to the boys…!! so exciting!!
(tidbit… kowji13 has a friend who attended the lunch show, and she was lucky enough to win the call battle! but but but… she got ‘connected with mal, but she’s a baby fan, wakaka!)
seems like the winner of the call battle could get the boys to record a personalised wake-up message for the alarm clock. mal’s winner didn’t have any particular wake-up message in mind, and leader suggested to mal to say something sexy. guess what?! mal said, ‘let’s melt together!’(*bb: the princess zooms into joongbo mode rightaway!)
and oh, kowji13 shared that the boys wore white and gray tux and looked absolutely ravishing! kowji13 also said that mal had changed his hairstyle abit for the event. keke, his hairstyle is no longer like a ‘bowl’…
one question posed to mal was where he would like to bring his lover, and he’d said ‘thailand or southeast asia’!!(*bb: yay, go to thailand, and then stopover singapore, please please please!)
one more thing, the seoul encore concert was mentioned again. yea, they said feb, and it was also revealed that some of the encore songs would be changed apparently.

Of course the dinner starts on the dot and the food sucks.. hahah.. to me..=p
then around 8 the show begins with Love like this… then a few songs then talk and play games with some of the fans… then the most exciting part is candles lighting services, the boys were going to tables to tables to light the candles, it’s like Hyun Joong will start to light table 1 candles and fans in that table will pass around and the last person in table 1 will pass the light to Young Saeng and it went on like that.
the boys of course are nose bleeding and salivating.. haha..they are dressed in grey and white tux… ho ho ho…

yup, things have changed yet again. PERSONA BANGKOK was supposed to happen on 17th jan, then changed to 9th jan… and then concert details were released, promo activities started, and tickets were put on sale. heck, the SG TS even got dear MEL, a superbly-kind thai leader fan, to help them get tickets. the tickets are actually with me physically, yea, right now as we speak. the date printed on ALL the tickets read 2010.01.09 (sat).
but even when things look so certain and final, they can still change!
just heard that PERSONA BKK has been postponed! it’s been postponed to 13th feb (sat)!
official news and info about this will be released via the media on monday. but MEL has kindly shared the news with some of us tonight. seems like PERSONA BKK will be their last stop for the asia tour, and then they will (hopefully) hold the encore concert in korea in the later part of feb.
well, at least that’s what they’re saying now…. who knows what’s gonna happen or get changed next? shrugs…
yup, this means that the boys are probably not gonna be coming to singapore, or going to malaysia.
as for the encore concert, i really do hope and do think it will materialise, but hey, i won’t hold my breath, and neither would i bet my last dollar on it. we ARE dealing with DSP, you know… where the only thing you can be sure of is… THINGS TEND TO GET CHANGED, AND THEY TEND TO GET CHANGED AT THE LAST MINUTE.
for those of you who have purchased your PERSONA BKK tickets, i believe you can get your refund if you can’t make it for the 13th feb concert. but if you’re going anyway, then you will have to get your tickets reprinted. all the details will be out on monday, so please do wait for more updates then.
i also understand that as a gesture of goodwill, all tickets will come with a premium (gift).
and oh, MEL has also shared that all tickets will stand a chance to win a place at the Meet-and-Greet session with the boys, which will be held before the concert proper.
i know some of you will be very sad at this news, coz you might not be able to make it for this new date since it’s actually the eve of lunar new year. to the chinese community, this is an ultra-important festival, and the eve (13th feb) is actually when families are supposed to have their reunion dinner. (in fact, the lunar new year is also a big thing to the koreans…) the princess wonders why on earth they have to pick this date!
then again, if you can make it, it’s a sweet deal, coz it’s ALMOST valentine’s day! imagine the stuff you can do to celebrate valentine’s day with the boys! go deck out in reds and pinks, or all things heart-shaped? should be loads of lovey-dovey fun!!

Hyun Joong have confirmed his appearance on Fuji TV, 「Gourmet Man’s Table」which will be aired on 5th January 2010!
Food that one usually doesn’t eat will be appearing in the show one after another. In this program, Hyun Joong will be making his homemade dish!
He will be coming to Japan specially to record this program and for the sake of Japanese fans he will be showing his cooking skills in front of them. what about tokyo? does he like it too? me thinks tokyo would remain a special place for leader since the boys did spend quite some time there after their debut. i suppose whether happy or sad memories, those days should be a very unforgettable period for leader.
anyway, remember i was blogging about leader APPEARING IN SOME COOKING PROGRAM in japan? i just read that yup, the recording for this program is gonna be on boxing day (sat), but seems like he’s gonna be flying back from tokyo to seoul after the christmas dinner party with the japanese fans on the 19th (sat). read that the boys are scheduled for a 7pm recording on 21st (mon) for the christmas special for music high.
i suppose leader will probably fly back to tokyo for the 26th (sat) recording. hmmm…will the boys have christmas day off…?
anyway, the kind fans over at CLEAR0606 have shared some pics of leader arriving at gimpo airport to fly to tokyo tonight. the boys had left in the late afternoon, but leader took a later flight. (work schedule? BH? anyone knows…?)

it’s soooooo… bloody exciting to see your own article on a korean entertainment news portal! it looks almost proper and official, if you know what i mean! i was so excited the entire day. in fact, the moment it was out, i was unable to contain my excitement and went to tell a few peeps to go check it out.
it was such a thrill to see your own name right up there as though you’re a real writer. hehe, yea, yea, i know, i know… cheap thrill… but it’s been a childhood dream of mine to become a writer whom people actually like to read from, so humour me for abit, k? i lost my camera in hong kong the night before the concert. did i hear someone say, ‘AGAIN?!’
yup, not the first time i lost it. i think i’ve lost three cameras in the past four years, oopsies! the first time was a casio and i had lost it during my seoul trip back in feb 2005. it had slipped out of my parka pocket when i was getting out of a cab. the second time was also a casio (which was the replacement i’d bought in seoul), and i had left it in the cab when i was getting home from my ex-company’s annual dinnee, and that was in sep 2007. and this third one that i’d lost last friday was a canon and i had lost it… errr… i don’t even know where i’d lost it.
sighs… seems like i’ve a pattern of losing cameras every two-odd years…
so… i didn’t have the use of a camera during the concert. actually, i kindda forgot that i was supposed to be taking pics and clips of the concert for the article, so i didn’t even think about buying a replacement then, or borrowing from fellow fans to snap a few ‘strategic’ pics.
it was much later that i’d remembered i needed photos for the article. thank goodness emz came to my rescue, so all the concert pics you saw in the article were hers. thanks, emz!
okie, now moving on to my ‘problem’ at hand. the princess needs a camera!
i was contemplating getting getting the panasonic lumix after reading that XIAXUE’S HAPPY WITH HERS. a good pal of mine also got one, and he’s pretty happy with it. i’ve seen the pics he’s taken with the cam, and the pics looked fab.
but but but… i’ve also been hearing rave reviews about the canon S90 that’s just launched into the market. in fact, this one’s canon’s answer to the wildly successful panasonic lumix DMX-LX3! since the S90 is a newer machine, and canon does have a good reputation of making good cameras, i decided to check it out abit…
here’s how the canon S90 looks…
nice? not bad, ya?
nope, not really.
the autumn leaves and all that jazz kindda framed the cam and made it look sexier than it is. the actual cam body is actually extremely old-school. it looks like a cam, period.
it’s black, it’s boring, it’s no-frills…. definitely no bells-and-whistles about this one.
but strangely, the princess actually likes how plainly simple and starkly black it is. it’s like it’s all confident in its glorious features and great functionality and performance delivery that it doesn’t need any shiny chrome coating or bling-bling straps whatsoever. i like how ‘proud and confident’ the cam is. it seems to know what its role is, to take pics, and it looks like it knows what it’s doing.
okie, okie, the princess is a sane person, and she ain’t hallucinating that the cam is a living thing. haiyo, you gals really have to stop taking things so seriously, and you have to stop taking me so literally…!!
my concern is this… even though the princess has been blogging since july 2005, she is still kindda useless and clueless when it comes to taking pics and clips. so if the cam knows what it’s supposed to do, and if the cam can make up for the owner’s lack of skills and aesthetic sense when it comes to picture composition, the better!

have i mentioned how much i like the rather clean and near-colorless look of this blog template? i like ‘space-y’ webpages like this… not overly complicated or fussy with details, and only the key info and the select few pics or clips are included. the world, OUR world is already complex and messy enough, why do i want a blog that’s as complex and messy? in today’s world of info-overload and way-too-many-choices-for-our-own-good, sometimes less is good, and simplicity is pure beauty.

when this whole leader blog thingy first started, my original idea was to do this for noona fans… so if i get my way, i’d reckon that most of you would get what i’m gonna say next. do you gals remember what it was like to order coffee in the past? it was just coffee black or coffee with milk. at most, you might be asked if you wanted sugar with it. and no, we didn’t call it some fancy names like long black… (the younger ones probably don’t know what kopitiam kopi is like….)
but today, ordering coffee is a highly complicated affair. even after you’ve ploughed through the extensive menu of latte, cappuccino, macchiato, espresso, frappucino, americano, etc etc etc, and decided on the christmas special of dark cherry mocha… at the counter, you’d be asked if you wanted it hot or cold. you said ‘hot’, and you;d be asked if you wanted whipped cream on it… lord, i thought only those cold ice-blended stuff came with whipped cream… and of course, you also had to decide if you wanted it decaff, or with skimmed milk, low-fat milk, soy milk, or whatever…
aigoo…!! does it really have to be so complicated? okie, okie, the uncouth and uncultured kopi-see-siew-dai-drinker shan’t argue with those coffee connoisseurs amongst you…
anyway, what was i talking about already…? ahhhh, about life, and how complicated everything is. so when it comes to our leader blog, i really wish to make it simpler. hehe, mostly to make OUR own lives simpler so that we don’t have to repost EVERYTHING… but also for those amongst you who might be too busy living your complicated lives to go through every single pic and watch every single clip from every single fan and taken from every single angle, we would just put up the barest minimum of the key stuff and hopefully, the most ‘selective’ (read = shortlisted and hopefully beautiful) pics and clips, so that we can save you some time and yet still be sufficiently updated.
you know, the princess thinks other than work, family, leader-fandom, every noona fan out there also deserves some ‘me-time’. yes, you have to learn to spend time with yourself, so that you know yourself better, and so that you don’t just hurry through each day, reliving each day the same way again and again and again and again and again… you may want to use the ‘me-time’ to do some self-reflection, to read abit, to call a new friend, to catch up with an old friend, to watch the news, or just light some candles and take a long bath. or what the heck, just go cut your toenails or something. just go do something -anything- for yourself.
don’t hurry through everyday blindly, and unfeelingly.
coz before you know it, the week is over, and then the month is over, then the entire year is over, and then your whole life would have sped past you and you wouldn’t even know what you’d done to spend the days.
so now, repeat after me, (Optional: I’m a princess,) PLEASE BE GOOD TO ME.
before others can be good to you, you have to be good to yourself first. if you don’t love yourself, how on earth do you expect others to? and if you can’t bring yourself to love yourself in your own skin, then do something about it, ya? just go make yourself more lovable, more attractive, more approachable… in fact, the princess thinks that if everyone would just be abit more patient, more tolerant, kinder, and less quick to judge or to jump to conclusions, everyone would be more at peace and at ease with yourself. and that’s a person who’s so easy to fall in love with. (*bb: and yea, it’s easier said than done, and yea, for sure it takes a conscious effort to make things happen…)

huh? you wanna know why did i call them ‘angel’ pics? those of you who know korean, or are familiar with the korean culture and stuff might know this. in korean, 1000 is pronounced as ‘chon’, and the number 4 is pronounced as ‘sa’, so this means that 1004 is read as ‘chon-sa’… which miraculously has the same pronunciation as ANGEL! so i guess the members of 1004khj cafe think that leader is an angel.

anyway, some super-lucky 450 fans got to spend a fab session with leader… and oh boy, he looked soooooo…. YUMMYLICIOUS! i ain’t kidding you! and i love how alert and sparkling bright his eyes were from yesterday’s pictures; he seemed very rested. me likey! me really really likey!! don’t you think it’s rather easy to tell when leader’s tired? his eyes would be dullish, and even abit puffy (on the upper lids)…

Korean magazine HIGH CUT reported that Korea’s National Sunbae, JiHoo Sunbae’s successful ‘bad boy’ transformation had given everyone a totally different and new feel and image.
In the afternoon of 16th Dec, Kim Hyun Joong made an appearance at a fan meeting event organized by the beverage that he endorses. Some 450 fans crowded to the event, and Kim Hyun Joong did not disappoint as he put forth an exciting performance for those present.
Other than his solo, Please Be Good To Me, he continued to emit hot energy into the encore segment, a performance item that he had put in extra effort and practice.
The beverage company had hoped that Kim Hyun Joong could prepare more uptempo dance tracks to keep the mood of the event high. But during the interview at the event, he said, “Amongst my solo numbers, this (Please Be Good To Be Me) is the only dance track. After thinking though, I also thought I should prepare a Christmas present for the fans present, so I really put in my best effort to practice for the next performance, but I’ve really been too busy recently, so please do forgive me even if I don’t perform so well (later). Would like everyone to please support my performance just based on my utmost sincerity.” All at once, his modest words invited thunderous applause from everyone at the event.
In the end, it was unveiled that Kim Hyun Joong had (unexpectedly) decided on Rain sunbae’s famous hit Rainism. This electronic hip-hop style of music with its fast beat is one that showcases unique masculinity with its sensuous body movements. The fans at the event immediately lapsed into the world of hyunjoongism, something unique to Kim Hyun Joong.
What is peculiar (about the encore item) is that when Hyun Joong was performing, the adorably sweet smile that’s uniquely his was ever-present on his face, but his hands and his entire body were executing all the sexy moves in tempo with the rhythm. As he swayed and danced to the music, he won the fans over and there were cheers and applause all round.
On that day, other than the 450 domestic and overseas fans who were lucky enough to win the chance to see Kim Hyun Joong in the flesh, many media representatives from Japan, Taiwan and other Asian countries also showed up to cover the event. The fan meeting event went on very smoothly. The program for that day included Kim Hyun Joong’s performance, charity auctions, and others. The entire program ran for about one and a half hours. The mood and spirit of the event also lent witness to the astounding appeal that JiHoo sunbae of Korea has over the entire Asian market.

seriously, the princess thinks no one does Rainism as perfectly as Rain himself. but leader brings to a different feel to the song. it’s less power-packed and the masculinity factor is sorta less ‘in your face’ when it’s leader performing. Rain’s execution of every move and every step is very deliberate and forceful, complete with rippling muscles and intense eyes, etc etc etc… you know, the whole works, and it’s complete package of showmanship when Rain’s doing it.
with leader, he even appeared somewhat shy at some parts… and, tony moly, that smile…!! and hee, he also seemed abit self-conscious about doing the COMPLETE hand down from body to crotch movement, and hehe, am sure you caught him stopping at his tum instead of going lower, ya? but somehow he looked cute and sweet like that…
and oh, i also love love love love love watching and re-watching the ending part with that backend bending thingy… WHOA! so now, tell me, how many times have YOU watched the clip already?!

gosh, these boys are really really reallyHOT property! not only were they appearing everywhere to promote Love Like This when their mini album Rebirth was out, they’re still making entertainment headlines after the last of their promo rounds for their mini album. from Chocolate, Champagne, Golden Fishery, to Intimate Notes, to Strong Heart….
and these boys didn’t just make an appearance and sit pretty during these variety programs. they really really really participated. haha, the stuff that they’d revealed even had me starting to wonder if they’d said a tad too much. yea, yea, even though DSP had wanted them to go the ‘au naturel’ style from day one, surely there is still a ‘limit’ as to how far these so-called idols should go, ya? hmmm… thank goodness they’re so lovable that me thinks most peeps would love them no matter what they’ve sprouted. otherwise, can you imagine the damage control measures the DSP publicist team has to put into place? hmmm.. surely that tight corner’s not so comfortable, ya?
my oh my, the number of ‘explosive secrets’ the members have blurted out over the past couple of weeks… well, suffice to say it’s enough to make quite a few news articles and then some…

that boy can’t keep a secret, can he?! he was the one who lifted the lid about leader and mal not speaking to each other for two months coz mal was frustrated with leader’s constant tardiness. and then all that jazz about how he had that sense of superiority in the beginning that he was much better than anyone else, except that leader had fab looks. haha, it was like baby had thought the rest of the members were just too dark-skinned and not talented enough… goodness!
and then, the story about how baby had wanted to fight for the group leader position? and also about how it was SEVEN AND NOT FIVE of them in the beginning (gosh, can you imagine, SS701?!!), and how baby was constantly bullied by the other youngest two who eventually did not form part of the group? for the life of me, i simply cannot imagine anyone other than baby being the maknae of SS501. and along the same train of thought, precisely because he’s so ‘babyish’, i also cannot even begin to imagine baby as the leader. thank goodness THAT didn’t happen.
anyway, i was just gonna do a simple translation of something i’d read earlier.
now you gals probably know that in most countries, there’re some heavyweight awards ceremonies at the end of the year, ya? be it for movies, dramas, or music, the year end is always the time to reflect and also to reward the people who had produced great works in the twelve months that’s passed. many artistes, management agencies and showbiz peeps place a lot of importance on these awards.
sadly, the boys haven’t had all that much luck with such year end awards with their music, save for the time of their debut when they were crowned best newcomer for the year 2005. and… in the Golden Fishery epi that was just aired over MBC on 16th Dec, this topic was raised. and i’ve gotta say it was raised in a rather ‘merciless’ way…
SS501 Has No Affinity with Year End Awards Due to Overseas Activities?
Since their debut, SS501 has not won any major awards in any of the music awards held in Korea, but they do not feel particularly sorry or upset about this.
In the final part of the SS501 Special in MBC’s Golden Fishery aired on 16th Dec, emcee Kim known for his sharp tongue posed this somewhat provocative question to the boys, “SS501 has never won a place in any major awards, right? What are your thoughts for this year?” It was a very pointed and direct question, and the members were caught off-guard and were nearly at a loss as to handle it.
Although SS501 has always enjoyed high popularity, they have not had much luck with the year end awards since they won the best newcomer award after their debut in 2005. The truth is both the members and their fans too feel sorry and regretful about this. Although emcee Kim’s question was sharply sensitive, the witty member, Park Jung Min, too countered with a reply that everyone was happy to live with.
His reply of “Our year end schedule is, once again, way too packed with many activities, so we’re extremely busy” took care of the emcee’s question indirectly, and alsobrought out how they are looking forward to the various activities at year end. Jung Min’s response also brought a smile to the emcee’s face and he then proceeded to enter into the next topic in the program.
mal‘s actually spot-on when he said they’re gonna be busy at year end… they had just finished the HK concert, then leader only had a mini break before his DK PARTY event yesterday. and they’re gonna be in japan to have that CHRISTMAS DINNER SHOW with the japanese fans. and remember they’re gonna be in china for the new year countdown? busy busy busy!
but i guess for entertainers, it’s much better to be busy and so sought-after, than the other way around…
btw do you remember DSP used to have another boyband A’ST1?
it’s been brewing for awhile that they group’s gonna be disbanded, especially with the initial news that tomo was leaving the group. anyway, it’s now official, THEY’D DISBANDED…
but seems like it wasn’t exactly cordial…? coz tomo(arguably the most popular of the group members) had posted THIS on this blog.

miyo was back a day earlier, whilst emz and myself only returned this afternoon. what a fab trip! i had really really really enjoyed the gals’ holiday, and yea, the concert too, of course! gotta thank the ladies for their company and, like what may had said, for everything else.
i guess it’s my first time travelling with these gals (except for the mini one), so it was kindda like a getting-to-know-you trip too. will definitely share more about the trip later… and oh man, as with nearly all hols, i feel so tired after a holiday, instead of being all rejuvenated and refreshed, hehe! guess it’s all the late nights…. don’t think there was any day that i had gone to bed before 4am, and most of the nights, it was even later than that… anyway, more about the trip later…

yay! the princess has finally watched her very first PERSONA!
will be sharing some thoughts and also abit of my personal trip report later, probably when i fly back to singapore. for now, will just say that if i do only one standing concert for PERSONA, then i’m really really really glad i’d chosen HK. the space was just unexpectedly good, or perhaps i was ‘scared’ alittle by the taipei experience…
i know some people were (and maybe still are) concerned about the ticket sales. honestly, i think no one really knows for sure, unless those are directly involved in the project. but i do know is that there were still tickets available just a few days before the concert.
but i can say something about the attendance rate though, keke, since i was physically there… frankly, we were all worried when we went into our standing zone A3 at around half past seven. why? coz the standing zone was really not crowded; the space seemed even ‘luxurious’! (again, maybe it was the taipei experience that had led me to kindda imagine that space was gonna be tight and everyone would be packed like sardines.)
looking around, saw that a significant number of seats were empty. then we suspected that people were coming late coz the airport express link might not be able to ferry so many people at one go. so maybe people were just running late for the originally scheduled concert time. but it was so delightful to see that by the time nears 8pm, more and more fans started arriving, and the venue was filled up eventually. if you don’t go check every single seat and just do a cursory sweep of the venue, it looked like it was full.
will go soon, since it’s already 4:30am!! but will leave you a pic to show you abit of the PERSONA HK scene.
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh…!! the other gals are all in my room and there’re a couple more waiting downstairs… and the princess’ getting kindda tensed (and guilty too) for holding everyone up!
anyway, just got the gals to go ahead to the venue first, and i will catch up as soon as i can, together with miyo and my bestie, rene.
yea, the purple one’s here too, wakaka!emz and myself had arrrived with a few others on wednesday, and miyo only headed out here yesterday. poor gal had to take the CX flight and detour to BKK before landing in HK last night, coz SQ was full… and i said ‘full’, i mean really really really FULL. in fact, we were told they’re full for days and days on end, and full ALL classes too!
now tell me, why on earth is everyone heading for HK? and…. why on earth is singapore still so crowded when so many of us are actually taking hols, especially in HK and BKK?!!! (*bb mutters to herself, what recession, what economic slowdown…)
anyway, the plan is for us to go grab something to eat. believe the eateries at the expo will operate from 6pm today, since there’s the concert. not too many choices, so will just go simple, i guess… then we will go for the concert.
why ain’t we queuing earlier? tell you more about that later.
and oh, we’ve got quite alot more pics and stories to tell from this trip. don’t have time now, but each of us will definitely share our perspective of the trip when we’re back in singapore. so yea, do remember to check back often, k?
one more thing, we gals have got something to announce about this leader-blog of ours too. hee, it’s something that’s terribly exciting to us all, and we can’t contain it anymore. hehe, literally near-bursting from wanting soooooo… much to share with you guys. before you go thinking it’s something really big, stop right there. it’s a big deal to us (personally), but not really something significant to you, k? but still, we wanna share. and can’t wait to share.

oopsies again! sorry, we gals again were checking out the citygate factory outlet mall at tung chung mtr station in the earlier part of the day instead of checking out the venue… sorry arh, it’s the gals’ first outing TOGETHER to a foreign country, so we just had to have abit of us-fun, instead of just concentrating on leader-fun, hehe!
but but but, we did hear that fans already started queuing from morning, and of course more and more of them just kept arriving at the venue as time went by. we were still hanging out at the supermarket at the shopping mall and all that… when we received some updates from a couple of kind fans. one said ‘unni, pali pali, go queue! many fans have already started to queue!’, and another shared that as more fans arrived, the entire atmos was starting to get rather festive…
anyway, when we got to the venue at 3+ and saw that yea, there were fans around and all… the merchandise booth was already being set up and a line was starting to form… here’s a pic to save you from having to imagine, hee!
